Dr. Sophie Oliver (she/her/hers) is a psychologist candidate. She holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology with a trauma emphasis from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a trauma emphasis from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and HSSP: Health, Science, Society, and Policy from Brandeis University. She completed an APA-accredited doctoral internship at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center with a focus on primary care mental health integration. She has experience providing evidence-based couples therapy and trauma-focused treatments with military and civilian populations. She has also provided therapy through the UCCS Veterans Health and Trauma Clinic and the UCCS Wellness Center. She enjoys working with adults who wish to address the impacts of trauma/PTSD, anxiety, mood disorders, sleep concerns, and relationship challenges.
Throughout her graduate training, Dr. Oliver conducted research focused on adaptation after trauma exposure through the Cognition, Emotion, and Wellbeing Lab at UCCS. She uses this research experience to guide her in evidence-based psychotherapy practice. Her primary treatment modality is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and she also incorporates techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She is trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Written Exposure Therapy (WET) for the treatment of PTSD, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) for the treatment of insomnia. She also provides couples therapy and primarily utilizes Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy (IBCT).
In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, cycling, and sampling local coffee shops.
