Group Therapy for Anxiety
Anxiety disorders are among the most common disorders, and can be very debilitating for the individuals experiencing them. Research supporting both cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), specifically exposure therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for anxiety disorders shows effectiveness and long-term improvements. This group will include strategies and techniques from both of these treatment modalities.
This group is a cost-effective way for people struggling with anxiety to decrease the power anxiety has over their lives, and consequently improve their quality of life. It is appropriate for individuals with a long standing history of anxiety, and for those with a more recent onset. It is also appropriate for people who are suffering from one or more of the following anxiety disorders: panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, specific phobia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
The group will meet for a total of 8 sessions. A one-on-one meeting with the facilitator, Dr. Monika Hauser, prior to the group will determine eligibility and fit for the group. The group will be limited to 6 group members.
